What’s a Doula?

You already know LMFM loves doulas– watch this video to find out more about them and what they do.

We recorded this video live in our beautiful 31 S. Lime Street office.

Join local doulas Rae Johnson-Bundy and Madhu Rajakittu as they talk about, you guessed it, what a doula is! Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/NqYVhETyuOc

Local Doulas Rae and Madhu

They’ll answer questions about what doulas do (and don’t) do, and discuss the 6 Healthy Birth Practices:

  1. Let labor begin on its own, if possible.
  2. Move around as much as you can (walk, sway, dance gently).
  3. Arrange for continuous support (birth partner, grandparent, doula).
  4. Decide on interventions based on whether they’re medically needed.
  5. Avoid giving birth lying flat on your back.
  6. Keep birthing person and baby together for skin-to-skin contact during the “Golden Hour.”

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at info@lancastermfm.com and we will help you out, whether you need to find a doula, need a second opinion, an ultrasound or consultation.
